Marc Lagrange - I love that nothing can escape me

Marc Lagrange is a photographer born in Congo, Kinshasa, nowadays based in Antwerpen, Belgium.
His work is evocative, sensual and voluptuous, celebrating beauty and pleasure.

Marc has a predilection for nudes and portraits, creates luxurious and timeless environments,
where eroticism and intimacy play a central part.

Hedonistic and privileged, his images do not deal with ordinary settings or regular situations.

They focus on dreams and fantasies, escaping logic and the constraints of reality.

His eye for detail, which is apparent within intricate compositions, underlines a perfectionist streak, served by his use of technique.

Asked how he would define his work, Marc says: «A cocktail of light eroticism, sensuality
and refinement, with a penchant for decadence.»
«I like Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton and Peter Lindbergh, but for me the biggest was Irving Penn.»

Designing his own sets and getting the right props is something Lagrange is passionate about.
The same applies to his locations, which he carefully researches until they fit his requirements.
He will often spend days looking for a specific piece of furniture or the type of cutlery he wants
laid out on a table. His banquet scenes, which are striking and festive at the same time, illustratehis ability to enhance precision while creating the right mood.

«The hardest part is the preparation of a session. I'm always busy with production,
looking for the place, finding my team, my model. It is very difficult to find one that will
surprise me, that will enthusiastically participate in this game, the universe becomes ours.

I love that nothing can escape me.»
